Description
Home interiors have a trend - a perpetual trend towards the modern and contemporary. We do feel that certain homes and building will retain a high level of style when furnished with period furniture as available from this site and furniture store Period Furniture Showrooms.
It’s a tough call in today’s day and age sourcing quality antique furniture. So much has been around, and we’ve seen every fad since antiques were modern! This site however uses a reasonably sound search tool to drill down and source your beautiful antique furniture and reproductions.
We’re not entirely convinced by some of the items on sale, however Period Furniture Showrooms do have a broad selection of aged items and furniture for sale both in their showroom and online. Perhaps it’s the style of their current antique offerings, however there’s a lot of mahogany on the site - despite making frequent trips to France where many wood materials were used in antique furniture. Call it our style, but mahogany just doesn’t cut it any more. We love big, boxy or delicate and engraved. Out with mahogany and in with oak!
Anyway I am side tracking from the purpose of locating for you my dear visitor the fine antique dealers in the UK, so onwards. Now we did drill a little further through the afore mentioned antique searching tool, and found some gems on the website. There was a £760 antique walnut bed which originates in France, a lovely sleigh type of antique bed, and there were plenty of other items if you know what you are after.
I guess what this site doesn’t do particularly well is aid the casual browser of antiques, you do have to use the search tool. Now there is an argument for not inviting in the casual browser, but this is the web and we’re all browsing.
So, updating your home? No need, go retro and antique - try this store for some lovely quite well hidden gems
